Manchester College

While looking at different argyle shirt ideas I stumbled upon one from Manchester College in Indiana. Some of my ancestors as well as my dad's family attended this school. I was there one time, for aunt Carolyn's graduation ceremony.

Manchester College is a college of the Church of the Brethren. My family were members of this denomination in Ohio when I was a child. I remember the foot washing, fellowship meals and communion ceremonies.

Historically the church has taken a strong stance for non-resistance or pacifism. I believe my brother was exempted from the military draft as a result of some letters from this church [I was not so fortunate but dumb luck intervened when the United States discontinued the draft in 1973, only days before my number was due to come up].

Dan,
That is rather interesting you seeing some argyle in a manchester picture.
I was looking at what you have on the Church of the Brethren. You know you are of the 11th generation of a family that came from the Schwarzenau area a long time ago. I am not sure how Coy was spelled before leaving Europe-probably with a K. One of the persons in Ohio that was active in Brethren history was Jim Denlinger who passed away a couple of weeks ago.
