2008 Yargo Yesterday

Fort Yargo Cyclocross Georgia State Championships event is in the history books. It was a big job for all involved in putting it on, but a great time for the participants and some epic racing for the top competitors in the state.

I watched a movie about a week ago called "Leatherheads" it is a story based in the 1920's about the early days of American pro football. The vibe of the sport in those days, not much money involved, evolving rules, mud, beer, rowdy fans... all reminds me of the current American cyclocross scene.

This season there is a group of college age folks from the Athens, GA area and they are having lots of fun, plus they have a talented photog who captures some of the cool things about Georgia cyclocross. Here's their photo album from the Yargo event.

Amazingly, we just rented the same movie last week. Since my work station was very near the tent site for the Athens crowd, I have to agree with your assessment. They provided plenty of entertainment and added lots of energy to the whole event. Stephen was amused when they came down by his location at the beach and he realized that it was not water (or Gatorade) in their sports bottles. I found out the same thing when they handed one up to a racer, who took a swallow and then threw the bottle by me. It was a fun day.

These are my groupies .
I feel their vibes and feed them some more through my music .
I believe that in some point in life , I simply refused to grow up .
I always like to hang out with people this age .
Only than I feel fully alive .
