Little Treasures

Aunt Arlene saved all kinds of letters and trinkets throughout her life. Recently some of these little treasures have begun resurfacing as her family goes through the boxes found in her home.

Sister Lisa sent me couple of letters written in July 1961 from myself and brother Doug to Arlene, probably while she was doing some missionary work in Ecuador. It's interesting that in the letter written as an eight year old I mention wanting a bicycle, a theme that has persisted and continued to grow my entire life.

For some reason my mother liked to dress my older brother and me the same for most of our childhoods. Here we are in 1956 dressed alike...

This looks like around 1958 or 59 and Doug and I are still dressed the same. Little brother Dave doesn't look too happy in this photo. Mom probably had just made him pull his finger out of his mouth.
