August 13 is an important date for me because it is Bev's birthday. This was also the date 16 years ago (1989) I began serious cycling and keeping ride/training logs. Greg Lemond had just won the TdF and was the top American cyclist. Lance was a 18-year-old Junior (who I first heard about at the 1990 Worlds in Utsonomina, Japan).
