Personally, I'm OK with my offspring's judgment. However I believe families selecting a child's spouse, as they still do in many cultures, might produce better long-term results in many cases. At the very least the families' approval should weigh heavily in a marriage... or maybe I'm just really old-fashioned :-)

The increasing number of failed marriages in this country made me think about the validity of that tradition. Nah, it's nothing personal.
