Up before the sun and spent the morning on Peachtree Street cheering and supporting as Rachel ran the the Atlanta Marathon, half-marathon actually. This was Rachel's first running event and her goal was finish. Bev and Andrew came too and we watched thousands and thousands of folks running.
What is this? 70 degrees in November. My tan lines are returning.

One broken spoke and one flat tire, but otherwise a smooth ride.

Slept pretty good last night and the white blood cells are busy fighting the virus. Indications are that the cold symptoms are probably about at their peak and should be just about gone in the next 3 or 4 days. Only had to resort to the Sudafed one time to get through the gig Wednesday night.
Calculating the typical cold virus incubation period and my whereabouts at that time, it's a pretty safe bet that Saturday afternoon's visit to Grady Hospital is where the contamination occurred. I tried to keep my hands in my pockets but being in the elevators, doorways, bathrooms and around all those sick people... probably should have carried some hand sanitizer with me.
My buddy Vincent is just 3 months old but about 3 times bigger than most guys that age.
Matt provided most of the horsepower this morning for Bob Vezeau, Oscar and myself. Toward the end, right after Matt cut off to go home, TC joined us and provided some fresh legs on the front.

Two of the dogs need to walk with a leash, the other will not roam, chase or otherwise require a leash *but* there is one little issue... a compulsion to retrieve newspapers.

Miles picks up newspapers if they are out near the street.
Wednesday Matt picked me up and drove us to join the Athens Cycling Group for the 80k - Northward Wednesday starting from the Hub bike shop. In the group was Ty Magner, Eric Murphy, Frank Trevieso, Jered Gruber, Ashley, Brian, Derek, Zak...

Met some riders in Athens this afternoon for a 100k+ road ride featuring several 10-15k sections of dirt roads. The group consisted of the following riders;
John Murphy, the current USPRO Criterium Champion.
Frank Trevieso, won 7 Pro1/2 races this year most recently the US 10K Classic.
Eric Murphy, won 10 Pro1/2 races this year.
Jered Gruber, journalist for Pez and Pro1/2 racer.
Parker Smith, a 21-year old who went from Cat 4 to Pro1/2 in one season.
I took my place at the back of the pack for the most part but did a couple tempo pulls on the front and hung right with the big men when they cranked up the pace on the dirt roads. My HRM data indicated I spent about 20 minutes over my threshold and that we averaged almost 23 mph on the dirt road sections!

Saturday night we performed in Hiawassee GA and the attendance was as expected, a little light, but everyone had a fun time. The music was happening and the folks were listening and applauding, some even dancing. The venue and it's proprietors were very generous, fed us, paid well and put us up in a huge 4-bedroom condo on the lake and told us we could stay for a few days and enjoy ourselves. Driving through the mountains this time of year is spectacular and I am looking forward to a return engagement already.
