Comments: GTC Championship

Dan: So glad you were able to blow everyone away yesterday. I just wish you wouldn't stress your body so much. I was very happy to hear that your after-stress symptoms were diminished and perhaps are going to be just a bad memory.

Last night on "Desparate H/Ws", one of the main characters husband died. I cannot imagine what my life would be w/o you. I watched my Mom go through that (as well as experienced it as a daughter). The majority of my concern for you is out of love. I guess it's a bit selfish that I don't want to be left w/o you but there it is.

I hope you have a pleasant day and drink some Vit C "koolaid" - I think it helps. Love B

Question: Dan,
If you were trying to do a personal best century, would you also stick to 150bpm (AT?) for the entire 4-5 (or so) hours? How long would you hold that kind of heart rate for long rides, and what would you back off to.. if you would back off.. for longer (6+ hour) rides?

Doug, good question. It depends, but a fit and experienced rider might be something like this:

12 or 24 hour event = Zone 1-3
PB century = Zone 4
45-60 minute criterium or TT = Zone 5a
