This morning the dogs and I got out for a cool and crisp morning run, a repeat of last Tuesday's workout, and all went well until the final couple of minutes when I got some pain in the left gluteus maximus area. Still knocked out a rolling 5k in about 24 minutes at a mostly easy pace. In hindsight I did wake up feeling a little stiff in the lower-back and hip area and did some extra stretching and loosening up prior to the run so I suspect there might be a pinched nerve or something like that going on.
As per my workout schedule the weight room workout was next after the run. Had to skip most of the lower body stuff. Then came time for the 1.5 hour ride that was on the workout schedule but after five minutes on the bike I realized that was not going to happen.
Currently resting with ice pack on butt and popped a couple those little green gel caps...
Ibuprofen:
This was the fifth installment of the 2009 cyclocross training series at Secret Training Location and the last Sunday practice before the actual racing begins. About twenty riders participated and the course was a very challenging, soggy and muddy mess, but in a good way.

Took the dogs out for our run this morning and we did a rolling 3.2 miles in less than 25 minutes with an average heart rate of 118 BPM (easy). The running is getting better and I actually kinda dig it. Probably should aim for a 7 min/mile pace at a 5k race sometime soon.
This week we get together on Thursday as well to perform at Lenbrook, "an upscale, full-service retirement community in the desirable Buckhead neighborhood." You gotta see this place it is like the Four Seasons or the Ritz or something only nicer! We will be one of three bands that afternoon.
Last time I saw young master Vincent we were both approaching six, him six weeks and me six decades. At seven weeks he is the size of many 6 month old babies.
Taking a nap on his Grandma's bed.

Curses. We are still working on it nearly a week later.
This morning was in the low 70's, 80% humidity and the ground was still wet from last night's rain. Another fine day to conquer the hills of the Ravine Trail even if it is a little like running in a sauna. I saw a fairly large copperhead up near the top of the big dirt climb and managed to bypass it before the dogs spotted it. We stopped for a brief photo-op near some of the ancient stone piles. My camera has red-eye reduction but dogs get green-eye from the flash.
Run: Work on the uphills and take it easy on the downhills.
