Leaders Jersey

Here's a classic case of logos fighting for real estate. Probably could have left out the art work completely and just filled the jersey with sponsor logos. Yeah, that's an idea... a jersey that is nothing but a collage of logos!

Sharpie on Packing Paper

A sunflower bouquet had been sitting on the table. A package of cycling supplies arrived packed in paper. A black Sharpie was on the counter top. Scribbling ensued. Actual sizes are about 50x70cm.

Change? I doubt it

Wrong religion, wrong gender, wrong ethnicity, wrong age. It usually comes down to who is most like what has been status quo. Minorities are almost never elected, except in the case of gender where women are in the majority.

Several months ago as I watched a Georgia FFA convention elect their state officers it was easy to predict the outcome. The choices for president were a short but dynamic and energetic female, a soft-spoken and hardworking Hispanic male, a well-educated and articulate Indo-American, and finally a large cowboy-type guy who sang a Johnny Cash song earlier in the convention and featured several bursts of "Go Dawgs!" in his speech. Who won? .... Duh!

“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” - H.L. Mencken (1880-1956)

Pack Photo

Here I was being stern and made all of them "sit". Frankie thought I was angry and looks worried.

Then the treats come out of my pocket. Samantha is already licking her chops.

Dog Tags

While walking the dogs this morning each animal's personality and rank in the pack became a little more obvious. Here's the way I tag the current canine platoon.

Samantha (9+), the slightly neurotic Captain, is the oldest and biggest. She has no sense of humor, will not play with or take any crap from the others, period.

Django (4), the Sargeant, is powerfully loyal and loves all his pack-family. He's got everyone's 6 and will defend ferociously.

Miles (<1), the Lieutenant, has an unusual understanding and desire to serve. He's the eyes and ears of the pack but still young and impetuous.

Frankie (2), the Corporal, not quite ready to be leash-less but belongs. He's like a sports car; lean, agile, fast, sexy but somewhat fragile.

Angels

Have you ever noticed how often in stained glass, sculptures and paintings that angels are depicted playing the lute? I don't recall ever seeing pictures of angels clinging to a bag of money or a stock portfolio. I guess the message is if you have the cash go buy a really good guitar!

Two Mile Dog Walk

It's not an ideal route due to some traffic on Rock Springs Rd. and lack of sidewalks but it's right outside the door and a good distance for both the young and elderly dogs. Late morning is relatively quiet, not too hot and a good time to walk. There are some hills so even at a brisk walk or jogging pace there will be heavy breathing and tongues hanging out.

Route map: Two Mile Dog Walk

Next week I will be walking four dogs instead of just three, but that's not so tough, check out this professional dog walker...

Meghan and Jay's Wedding

It was July 26, 2008 and Meghan was the first of the next generation of Coy cousins to tie the knot. The actual event was cool and tons of good photos were taken. I snatched a couple personal faves from the official photog's proof website.

Just the start of another idea; GAX running man logo over orange burst with target cross hairs and "Generation Kill" font LEADER.

Miles Brings the Paper In

The Thursday newspaper is filled with legal notices and is much bigger than the other weekday papers. Mile's does not let that stop him. He enthusiastically retrieves that newspaper every morning no matter how big and heavy it is.

Clever Puppy

Guess who has been retrieving the morning newspaper from the end of the driveway these past few days? Miles enjoys having a job and really wants to please. Also, no more nights in the crate, all the dogs bed down in the garage and that's where he chooses to be.

The past six or seven weeks have been both challenging and rewarding, and a little like a child going through the "terrible twos". Miles will have certainly left his impression around here, mostly of the canine tooth variety, but he's growing up fast and I'm going to miss this little Aussie when he goes to live in Baton Rouge.

Series Leader Jersey?

They say it's time for a new leader's jersey in the Georgia Cross Series. I always felt like this when wearing a leader's jersey...

This type of background would stand out in a sea of colored Lycra.
