The course was dry and dusty and it was sunny but a pretty good group of cross riders lined up for some hot laps. The workout was 4x10(10) that worked out to be four two-lap races (w/10-minute rest), which meant there was some good head-to-head racing and riders pushing each other to do better.

Most Atlanta stations have no gas for sale. When they do get some there are long lines at the pumps. The prices are $4.00 per gallon usually. I have heard this is due to the hurricanes in the gulf. I think it's a little glimpse at what we all have to look forward to eventually.
Me thinks if president Bush's family were in the electric business instead of the oil business we would all be driving electric cars today.
We played at a nice little outdoor wedding a while back, the folks were cool, some old friends, the caterer was awesome and the music and dancing was pretty entertaining. The groom has a blog and did a little write up about the music at the event...
my dad wanted to have his buds play at the reception and i was cool with that. Dan Coy and Mac Mckibben are a duo that have been playing together in atlanta for some time. they showed up in their hawaiian shirts and really did a great job of setting the social mood. they are fantastic musicians and easy going dudes. some of you may have noticed a couple unusual jazz renditions they slipped by. i know for sure they played a nirvana song and the flintstones theme and would not be surprised if they had thrown in some 2pac and queen.
Sort of like the oval car decals with the international vehicle code, but this one was given to me by my friend Coy Bowles.
The first day of fall occurs at the autumnal equinox: Monday, September 22, 2008, at 11:44:16 EDT.
The equinoxes and solstices mark the start of spring/autumn and summer/winter. The divisions are based on the rotation of the earth with respect to the angle of the earth. As the earth goes around the sun, picture it looking down on its orbit from above. summer solstice is when the earth's north pole is pointed most directly towards the sun (longest day) - warming the northern hemisphere. Winter solstice is when the earth's south pole is most directly pointed toward the sun warming the southern hemisphere and leaving the north cold. (shortest day) The equinoxes are the midway points between the solstices with the sun halfway between its northmost and southmost points, so we have equal day and night.
First time for everything, I suppose. A Thomson product has failed...
The clamp part of my handlebar stem on the road bike has cracked. I know it has nothing to do with racing up and down hole-pocked, rocky dirt and gravel roads, or cutting across yards and fields, dirt paths, over curbs and so forth.
Maybe they'll send me a new one.
The 2008 Georgia Cross Series leader's jersey is finalized and going into production.
No more pretty peach-covered jersey crap as in previous years. There will be no mistake, if you are wearing this jersey then you are in the cross hairs, pal!
I got a pretty good chuckle when the graphic designer at Champion System didn't want to put the "LEADER" logo on the jersey because the font was so crappy looking. I had to convince her it was suppose to look that way, it is a distressed font. I first saw this font on the recent HBO series "Generation Kill", and it seemed apropos.
Riders ready, aim, GO!
This is blog entry #800, for those who are counting.
Photoshop-ed a pic of Nick and Ruth just for kicks... sort of a vintage poster look.
